JUST FOR FUN:

If you are planning  a special dinner this month, here is a special Jello Salad from the recipes of Bettie Nixon worth a try! In this season of Thanksgiving we are so very grateful that Bettie at age 98 has always been such a gem to us all, sharing recipes and helping our club to be grounded. Try this recipe and let us know how it goes!

ORANGE JELLO SALAD

I large package Orange Jello Salad

1 pint orange Sherbet

1 sm can mandarin oranges, drained

1 sm can crushed pineapple, drained

2 medium bananas, sliced

>Mix Jello with 2 cups boiling water; add the remaining ingredients until mixed well. (add sherbet first until dissolved) Chill as required and serving suggestion is a spoonful on a leaf of lettuce with a dollop of mayonnaise. (this should be served soon after being chilled properly)   Thanksgiving

is a time to be grateful for our blessings and one blessing is to have purpose. Our children are grown, deeds have been  accomplished, we have memories of travel and loved ones to keep us company but there is a lingering thought… Can I still make a difference? As part of our club you can indeed continue to have  meaningful contributions to those in most need and to the community we serve. Together we are making positive differences in the lives of our community members who need help through our participation and giving.

We have attached a flier for the next scheduled local HHW drop off. It’s local in Covina and a great way to clear your garage of unused or expired chemicals, never gonna use again paint, old batteries and light bulbs that all need to be disposed of through a Household Hazardous Waste collection site. Ask a younger family member to help with this task if you need a hand! A cleaner garage is a SAFER garage.
